Viswaroopam banned for 2 weeks by Tamil Nadu Government

Universal hero Kamal Haasan's forthcoming magnum opus Viswaroopam has banned by Tamil Nadu for law and order reasons. On Tuesday, around 30 Muslim leaders from 24 Muslim organizations had met Chennai Police Commissioner and demanded a halt to the film.

Considering all aspects, including the fact that Friday is the holy day of the Prophet’s birthday, the government asked district collectors to suspend the screening of the film for two weeks.
Press conference by Muslim leaders
Muslim groups say that the film could damage social harmony. Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam MH Jwahirullah president said that the film has been hurted their feelings. Federation of Islamic Movements and Political Parties Coordinator Mohammed Hanifa said that the Muslim community is not willing to accept it in any case. Even after removing some footage from the film can not be accepted.

The statement came a day after the film's special screening to the Muslim leaders by Kamal Hassan in respect of thier demand to show the film before its release. Hassan, the director says that the movie is nothing like the feeling of someone getting hurt. The ban for the big-budget film, made in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu have been created waves.

Kamal who is in Hollywood to screen the grand premier of 'Vishwaroop' ,  responded that he will take legal course against ban on the screening of his film Vishwaroopam, saying that such "cultural terrorism" should stop.

Once, Kamal too had a taste of political parties trying to dictate film-making when he was forced to rechristen the title of his movie on death penalty from 'Sandiyar' to 'Virumaandi'. That was due to the stiff protest from a dalit party which disrupted the shoot in and around Madurai.
