Pin from permalinks.
Give credit and include a thoughtful pin description.
What is the difference between Liking and repinning?
Liking a pin adds the image to your profile’s Likes section; the image does not get added to one of your boards.
Repinning an image allows you to categorize the image onto one of your boards. You can edit the description of a repin. The source-link of an image is saved automatically, no matter how many times it’s repinned.
What is a Pinboard?
A board is a set of pins. A board can be created on any topic, such as Cool Posters, Recipes For Dinner, or Wishlist. You can add as many pins to a board as you want.
What is following?
“Following All” means you'll have all of a user’s pins on all their boards shown to you in real-time on Pinterest. If the user makes new boards, you will automatically follow them.
You can follow individual boards if you're only interested in seeing a user's pins to specific boards.
You can unfollow boards and users at any time: they will not be notified.

Join with APJ Abdul Kalam in Facebook
A P J Abdul Kalam, former President of India, is now on Facebook.
When
the former President made up his mind to get on the social networking
site, little did he realise that there were already more than 10 other
Kalam profiles already existing. Hence, for authenticity, his official
address on FB will be: www.facebook.com/OfficialKalam. Like his famous
missile launch campaigns, Kalam quietly ran the trial run of his
new-found-love a month ago and late on Saturday night (February 4),
decided to make the site live. Giving him company in the hour of
networking was his Man Friday and IIM-Ahmedabad grad Srijan Pal Singh.
“I
travel across Indian cities and villages meeting thousands of people, a
majority of whom are youth, who are great innovators and social
entrepreneurs. Through my social networking page, I want to enlighten
the nation about such wonderful initiatives, ideas and people who are
silently shaping the future of this country. I look forward to a
constructive discussion on such initiatives which would be vital for
achieving the vision for an economically-developed India by 2020,” Kalam
said.
He said that his FB page will be a tool to promote a spirit of ‘What Can I Give’ among the citizens, especially the youth.
“I
would be sharing all the examples and ideas from the nation, of those
people who have been giving to the society, nation or environment to
create smiles, happiness and peace. I am calling this ‘The What Can I
Give Diary’ which will be regularly uploaded on the page,” says Kalam.
Hinting
that his FB mission will be one for a cause, Kalam said that he is keen
to bring forth the problems and opportunities of rural India to a
larger audience. “I have come across cases where farmers have suffered
in bad seasons due to poor technology and in good seasons due to bad
management. Can we bring forth these problems and evolve solutions with a
national participation through social networking? Or can we use the
social networking platform to discuss, improve and replicate some of the
successful initiatives in villages for empowerment of the farmer and
underprivileged communities?”he asks.
When
asked how often would he get on to FB, Kalam said: “Every day.” When
probed about the ‘other Kalams’ on FB, he said: “Such pages will always
exist. We will try and merge them into one common page over a period of
time.”

Twitter promoting lies - Saudi's Grand Mufti
Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti (religious chief) has launched a
virulent attack on the social networking site Twitter, saying it has
become a platform for promoting lies, newspapers in the Gulf Kingdom
reported on Sunday.
Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Shaikh, in a Friday prayers sermon, was
referring to what he described as countless Fatwas (Islamic edicts) by
Muslim scholars from Saudi Arabia and other countries.
He said those scholars are promoting false allegations, issuing
erroneous fatwas and attacking venerated religious and social
personalities.
“This website has become a platform for trading accusations and for
promoting lies used by some just for the sake of fame…this is a very
dangerous practice which must be avoided by real Muslims,” he said.
“There are well know means for constructive criticism but Twitter and
other websites which publish lies and distortions are dubious means
which should be avoided by good Muslims… we should not listen to this
website or make it our main source of information and knowledge…”
Sheikh Abdul Aziz urged Saudi Arabia’s feared religious police-- the
Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice-- to
crackdown on users of Twitter website, adding that there are several
other “good and useful” websites which can be seen by Muslims.
Twitter has been at the centre on controversy after it announced last
week that it would begin restricting Tweets in certain countries,
marking a policy shift for the social media platform that helped propel
the popular uprisings recently sweeping across the Middle East.
Twitter's decision to begin censoring content represents a
significant departure from its policy just one year ago, when
anti-government protesters in Tunisia, Egypt and other Arab countries
coordinated mass demonstrations through on the social network and, in
the process, thrust Twitter's disruptive potential into the global
spotlight.
As the revolutions brewed last January, Twitter signaled that it
would take a hands-off approach to censoring content in a blog post
entitled "The Tweets Must Flow."
"As we continue to grow internationally, we will enter countries that
have different ideas about the contours of freedom of expression,"
Twitter wrote in a blog post.
"We do not remove Tweets on the basis of their content," the blog
post read. "Our position on freedom of expression carries with it a
mandate to protect our users' right to speak freely and preserve their
ability to contest having their private information revealed."
It said even with the possibility of such restrictions, Twitter would
not be able to coexist with some countries. "Some differ so much from
our ideas that we will not be able to exist there," it said.
Twitter's move comes at a time when Internet companies such as Google and Facebook have wrestled with foreign governments over freedom of speech and privacy issues as they expand rapidly overseas.

Facebook user increases to 132% in 2011 and 2nd largest in the world
India would be a key target market for Facebook. The popular social networking site reveals that its user base from India has more than doubled in the past one year.
“We have achieved varying levels of penetration within the population
of Internet users in different countries. The growth of 132 per cent in
India has been higher than many other countries, including home market
in US.
The penetration rate in India was estimated to be 20-30 per
cent,” Facebook stated.
In November 2010, Indonesia surpassed the UK to become the second
largest nation on Facebook users, after the U.S. Now, India has
dethroned Indonesia from the second position.
According to Forbes,
India has a total of 43,497,980 Facebook users compared to 43,060,360
in Indonesia, as of February 1 2012. The growth has been phenomenal over
the last one year. On January 1, 2011, India had a total of 16,915,900
Facebook users and the total exceeded by 144%, by the end of 2011.
Despite gaining huge popularity in India, there are several obstacles
ahead of Facebook, as the social networking giant gears up to expand
its presence in India. Facebook’s growth in India may be held back,
owing to the censorship laws and court cases.
The Delhi High Court has
ordered Facebook, Google, Yahoo and other Internet companies to remove
material considered offensive. Legal sources point out that the case has
a good chance of being taken to the Supreme Court, and if the court
order is upheld, Facebook, Google and others would be forced to closely
monitor content on their site.

Saudi man tries to sell his son in FaceBook
A Saudi man has tried his son for sale to continue providing for his wife and daughter after his illegal debt-collection business was shut down by a court.
Saud bin Nasser Al Shahry has posted his offer on Facebook asking for around USD 20 million. He claims trafficking his son is the only way to avoid 'living in poverty.'
According to the Facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, users 'will not post content or take any action on Facebook that infringes or violates someone else's rights or otherwise violates the law.'
Al Shahry says he had asked authorities to help him financially, but was denied the request because he was older than 35, mailonline reported.
According to the Saudi Arabian human rights group, National Society for Human Rights, about half of Saudi children face domestic violence or some kind of abuse.

Do not try to remove Facebook Timeline: You could be a victim for scammers
If you're not a fan of Facebook's new Timeline, you're not alone. In a
CIO.com poll of more than 600 people, 87 percent responded that they
dislike the new profile design. Unfortunately for them -- and contrary
to Facebook Pages and Groups popping up -- there's no hitting the rewind
button to revert to the old profile.
When new Facebook features are added, scammers use the chaos, confusion
and disdain to take advantage of unsuspecting users. The most recent
instance involved the Facebook Ticker. There are ways to remove the
Ticker by using browser extensions; however, there is no such fix for
the Facebook Timeline.
Inside Facebook reported the following just recently:
“Despite Facebook’s efforts to educate users about the new profile,
some people have misconceptions that make them susceptible to scams like
these. We have found 16 Timeline-related scam pages, which have
collectively gained more than 71,000 likes. The largest, with nearly
19,000 likes, has been around for at least two weeks. These pages are
among the top search results when searching Facebook for “timeline.”
There are several Facebook Pages, rogue applications and rogue
browser extensions claiming to show you how to remove the Timeline from
your profile. Just doing a quick search via the Facebook Search bar
revealed the following:
Timeline is being rolled out to all users. If you don’t have it now,
then you soon will. If you have already made the switch and don’t like
it, well, the bad news is that you are stuck with it. There is no way to
revert back to your old profile.

Facebook addiction grows divorce cases
A lot of married people - about 80% in the process of a divorce - are using a social network such as Facebook to cheat, says a survey of divorce attorneys.
Although the divorce
attorneys agreed Facebook is cited in 20 percent of all divorces, about
80 percent are using some kind of social media to make assignations or
communicate with lovers, the New York Daily News reported. At least one Florida lawyer says those numbers are low and actually closer to about 90%.
"There are times when my
paralegal and I sit in this office and laugh because people are
stupid. They put things out there on the Internet that can last
forever," St. Petersburg, Fla. attorney Carin Constantine told.
Constantine has no problem
finding incriminating photos for her clients by using Google Images to
search the names of divorcees , which can show up even in deactivated
Facebook accounts.
"The problem is, if you've
got 400 friends, I assure you one of those friends [doesn't] have all
the privacy settings correct," she said.
We all know that Facebook can get you fired or in trouble with the law, but
now it can easily cost you in a divorce settlement. Use your privacy
settings wisely and don't post photos that you don't want everyone,
including your husband or wife, to see.

Setback for Facebook : Randi Zuckerberg leaves Facebook, starts her own Social media
Randi Zuckerberg, the sister of Mark Zuckerberg, leaves Facebook in order to start her own company. After serving six years as director of marketing, the businesswoman says that she wants to get involved in a project of her own, that will still involve Facebook.
Randi Zuckerberg was named director of marketing for Facebook in 2005. Since then, she has been deeply involved in making the most popular social network what it is now. She has helped breaking the barriers that existed between the classic mass media and the internet media. She has helped develop Facebook as a mean of the mass media by itself. Now, six years after the first steps of this incredible journey, Facebook releases an official statement on Zuckerberg’s departure. “Randi has decided to leave Facebook to start her own company. We are all grateful for her important service”, the statement said to CNNMoney on Wednesday.

Randi , who is only 29 years old, says that her goal “is to launch my own innovative programming and work with media companies to develop their programming in new, and more social ways.” After spending years pouring her “heart and soul into innovating and pushing the media industry forward by introducing new concepts around live, social, participatory viewing that the media industry has since adopted”, Zuckerberg’s sister is going to start her own company, named “RtoZ Media”. But she is not going to leave the social network giant. Her new project will involve Facebook as well. “Facebook will clearly be a central element in all my projects”, the businesswoman said. She added that her plan is to demonstrate that “ANYONE” is able to do “groundbreaking media work in the platform.”
Prior to being Facebook’s marketing director, Randi Zuckerberg worked as a panelist on Forbes on Fox, a business analysis program, broadcasted on the Fox News channel.
