Prowash India - Pioneers in water less car wash services

Scientists at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore have predicted that the water resources of the city could dry up in the next five years.

Now consider this: There are 6,34,730 registered cars in Bangalore as of March 3, 2010, and more are being added daily. It takes roughly 50 liters of water (two buckets) to wash one car. It takes more than that if you opt for house cleaning your car, as is the norm in service stations. How much precious water are we wasting washing cars? You do the math! Some apartments use treated sewage water for the purpose. But the chemicals in the treated water affect cars in the long run. Where does that leave those who love their cars and are also concerned about the depleting water resources in the city? The solution is the waterless car wash, says Vivek Sridhar.

Prowash India is a two year old company owned and managed by professionals in automobile related business. They are pioneers in water less car wash services, probably only one of its kind in the country which truly deliver a new experience in cleanliness which can be matched to conventional cleaning methods.

They have made it their business to be eco friendly and conserve water. In this they truly mean that they do not use a drop of water in the entire cleaning process and also leave the car with a polished and wax effect which will last at least three days(not available in the conventional cleaning currently being practiced).

They have been able to achieve this situation after rigorous research and development by their associates, suppliers; They use totally eco friendly, with proven technology and have tested their materials across five continents. In fact the materials used by them are recommended and used exclusively by a leading sports and racing cars manufacturers as well.

This MBA graduate founded Prowash, a water-less car wash service, in October 2009 along with his two partners, Sreedhar Subaraman and Ganapathy Subramaniyan.

“It is essentially a two-step process of spray and wipe. We spray an ionised, ecofriendly, paint-friendly chemical, which also has waxing content in it. Then buff the car and wipe it off with an imported micro fibre cloth. This leaves the car with a showroom-worthy-waxed-polish look that will last for three days. No dust will settle on the car and water drops will roll off the car during those three days,” explains Vivek. But in spite of the effect lasting for three days, some of Vivek’s customers opt for a daily wash, out of habit, says Vivek.

The materials used are imported from their partners in UK. It takes around 18 minutes to wash a car using the water-less method. And the service is provided at your doorstep, anywhere in Bangalore and at your convenience. “We are trying to educate as many people as possible about the benefits of waterless wash, because it helps in saving our resources for posterity,” says Vivek.

Currently, Vivek provides the water-less car wash facility to around 750 customers residing in apartments, corporates like Accenture and service stations like Mahindra and Ford.

THERE are 3 different plans that a customer can avail of:
Budget plan: Two washes a week, one interior cleaning and one waxing and polishing a month. Rs 350 per month.
Economy plan: Three washes a week, two interior cleaning and one waxing and polishing a month. Rs 500 per month.
Standard plan: Every day washes, four interior cleaning and one waxing and polishing a month. Rs 750 per month.

They will be available at this address:
