Increased Auto fare details and Helplines

The auto drivers' associations demanded hike in auto fare after the rise in fuel costs. Transport minister R Ashoka, who held a discussion with the representatives of the autorickshaw drivers' associations, announced the new tariff.

The minimum fare is Rs 17 (for first 2 km), while the fare Per KM is Rs 9 thereafter.

The government has planned to make digital meters compulsory for autos. “We have conveyed this to the auto union representatives. We will give a subsidy of Rs 1,000 for every autorickshaw driver for changing the meter,’’ Ashoka told reporters.
