Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa unveiled the coach as hundreds of people waited with bated breath to get a glimpse of and touch the future of public transportation of the City.
As soon as the Chief Minister cut the customary ribbon to enter the coach and left the venue, the waiting crowds rushed in to get a first-hand look at the replica painted in steel grey with pink borders.
People were seen making a beeline into the coach/passenger saloon, complete with a train driver cabin, dummy electrical propulsion equipment below the coach, seats, stainless steel railing... Route no 0006 M G Road was on the LED display and also maps of the entire North-South and East-West corridor and stations along the 42.3 km route was on display inside the coach.
‘Dream come true’Describing the mock-up as a ‘dream come true’, Yeddyurappa, who got into the driver’s cabin, got a feel of the inside of the coach, controls and instrumentation of the train.
He later wrote his feedback in the visitor’s book provided by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).
“I wish the best possible transport system for Bangalore. It is a dream come true,” said Yeddyurappa and added that Reach-1 (Baiyappanahalli to Cricket Stadium) will be operational in December 2010.
